How do I put my free downloaded applications onto my iphone?

when i went onto my iTunes, i saw Apps store(new). so i thought hey i should get some applications, since i’ve never had any. when i went to the bottom it said TOP FREE APPS. so i thought wow free apps!
so i downloaded a few. but then i can’t put them into my iPhone. i noticed under my library that it had a new section. it said applications.

You access the App Store through your iPhone, you download the apps from there. If you updated your phone to the new software the App Store icon should be on your phone, once you get your apps, they can be backed up or synched through iTunes.
