Problem with iPhone applications?

I just got my iPhone yesterday and dowloaded iTunes, so I downloaded a couple applications like myspace and facebook. Well when I hit the application after it dowloaded it pops up for a second and then disappears. What is going on and how do I fix it?

you have to update your iphone. Plug it into your computer, open itunes and click “search for updates” in the iphone tab. this should do it.
