    Normally it is just a one off payment.

    You pay usually once and can use the applications.

    The prices vary: from FREE to a few dollars, some of them even 79.99 USD. But most are around 1 – 10 USD

    only a one time fee. large majority of apps cost from 59p (99c) to £5.99 ($10.99), although an awful lot of them are free anyway!

    Almost all of them are just a one time fee charged to your itunes account. There are very few(maybe 5 total) that also charge a monthly fee. You can download those applications(usually for free) but to use the service the application provides it wll ask you to set up an account with that company in order to pay the monthly fee and then you would get a user name and password to use the application. You won’t end up with any unpleasant suprises on you credit card or phone bill.
